Design system and headless CMS components for Vhi's public site and member cabinet.

Vhi's client-facing insurance experiences run across the public website and the authenticated client cabinet. The redesign was about simplifying fragmented service interactions. My responsibility was the design system and the headless CMS components (in both Figma and Sketch), plus onboarding the people who had to adopt them.

What I was responsible for

The work sat at the point where design standards meet published pages. I owned the shared system, the CMS building blocks that expressed it, and the adoption that made both usable in day-to-day delivery.

Design system

  • Owned the shared component system for the public site and the client cabinet.
  • Maintained the system in both Figma and Sketch so design teams could work from one coherent set of patterns.

Headless CMS components

  • Designed the components the CMS assembled pages from.
  • Kept those building blocks aligned with the design system so designed and published UI stayed the same.

Onboarding and adoption

  • Onboarded teams onto the system so it became part of how work shipped.
  • A library only reduces fragmentation if the people shipping the journeys use it.

Why that was the work

Fragmented insurance services needed a stronger shared structure across the public site and the member cabinet. The design system, CMS components, and adoption program were how that structure reached both surfaces and stayed consistent as teams continued to ship.

Shared structure

  • A connected client experience depends on reusable patterns, not one-off screens.
  • Keeping design tools and CMS components in sync reduced the gap between intended UI and what went live.
  • Adoption made the system durable: standards held only when teams could pick them up and keep using them.
